I wonder whether the overnight rain also put people off as it was quiet outside Manly surf club this morning. Maybe it was also the 39 "Bench swimmers" who have mostly all left for a Kangaroo Island adventure (we're very jealous!), hence an empty bench.
It was a lovely swim, although a bit bumpier than yesterday and a bit cooler at 21.7c, though that was pleasant after another hot and sticky night. Viz is still pretty good although a bit of debris and a few bities. We saw a beautiful, swimming eagle ray at the point.
Some relaxing yoga for the early risers (not me).
Val and Megan emerging from the 6.30 swim, saying the ride in was hard work. Turned out they were spot on as Georgina and I made the rookie error of taking off googles, caps etc and were suddenly being dragged back out, hanging onto to each other to stay upright, quite a sight I imagine. Tip, swim all the way in!
David, John, Sian, Nicci, Robyn, Buddy the dog and Georgina. David and Sian are out visiting from Dorset. It was Sian's first swim in the ocean so Robyn swam with her the whole way to make her feel comfortable. David is a triathlete so he didn't require our assistance! Robyn had a cake for her son, Edward's birthday, who in the end couldn't make it but even though there weren't that many of us this morning we still managed to plough through most of the cake.
I was so distracted by cake eating that I only took one last photo of the peaceful looking sea, although when we came out the signs were up for " beach closed due to pollution" and "dangerous current".
Enjoy your day.
Amanda
