Well the title has said it all. There were bluebottles on the beach and a few in the water but barely anyone got stung. There was thick salp in some places but Shelly beach was calm and fairly clear! It was choppy though and air temp cool. Well done Simon on clocking up 5000 kms with the B&B. Capless Dave has reached that too apparently and he tried to steal Simon's thunder by running through the arch first! It looks like Terminator Gary Brits is getting ready to beat them with his big stick!
JK tries to explain the situation about the risk of stingers and salp.
A small 7am group today. The Drinks Express were a larger group again!
The small, brave group at Shelly at 7.20am
I took these photos at 6pm last night just off Shelly beach so it's still worth getting in at the moment! I'd suggest a swim out from Shelly along the rocks to avoid Blueys, Salp and chop!
Brendan looking surprised for some reason! Huge congrats again on your 33 km Catalina Swim!
5000km Simon!
The Trivia Night sold out quickly but there might be the odd ticket still available at $35. The auction, raffle and silent auction prizes are fantastic. Thank you so much to our generous donators. We'll really be helping Nigel Scozzy return home after his accident to a home adapted to his disability. We'll also be helping Royal Far west kids and Australian seabirds and Turtles!
Info about Trivia Night below (reposted from Jocelyn's blog on Sunday)
Elsewhere on the "manly Mile" La Nina will not interrupt preparations for the inaugural "manly mile" Quiz night fundraiser to be held this Tuesday 11th October at the Steyne hotel, a long time supporter of our swimming community. The dulcit tones of JK will ring out as he transforms from "lets go" to "Quizmaster" for the evening (and no, he wont take bribes...) and our MC, Trooper will inspire and encourage us to open our wallets (including our on-line wallets!) and spend big on the fantastic prizes generously donated by our wonderful community.
for those attending, a few housekeeping matters:
- arrival from 6:00pm for a prompt commencement of proceedings at 6:30
- please bring cash in all denominations for raffle tickets (there will be a tap & go as well)
- food can be ordered from your table via QR code and will be brought to you, so you wont go hungry
Details of silent and live auction items will be available on the evening on your tables as well as posted on the Bold & Beautiful facebook page. The list of auction items is also below in case you arent going and would like to delegate bidding to a friend!
