The B&B swimmers I saw today, all swam well within their capabilities. Strong early swimmers warned us of the rip and we could see the large sets so most people chose to go from half way or the experienced ones went from the beach. Some of us chose to have fun in the waves like these wonderful Wows above. Always a great option!
Little Sarah had already been in by the time I got to the Surf Club at 6.35am. She is very brave and determined but would never consider going in if she considered conditions risky. Here she is with kindest man in Manly Derek and the lovely Peta and Tatchi.
The Merpeople are all strong swimmers and a few of these chose the halfway option coming back as the safer option.
Jim, Bruce and a few others head out at 7 before the 'beach closed' sign went out but all very proficient swimmers... A few volunteer lifesavers amongst these.
Ian welcomes a swimmer from another swim group, The Willy Dolphins from Williamstown in Victoria.
This group offers support to so many. Ranya had a difficult time after giving birth to beautiful Felix but drops by for a friendly welcome and chat on her morning walk.
Dave from Chicago used to swim with us and joins us for a swim this morning.
Lifeguard Neil is concerned sends out the jet ski and a lot of swimmers appreciate the advice from the guy on it regarding where the rip was and to swim wide. Fortunately he didn't have to rescue any B&B swimmers as the large majority of us know what we're capable of. (There was talk of one swimmer being brought in earlier but don't think it was a pink capper.Whether it was or not thank you for helping that swimmer.)
Peter loved his swim today but didn't have any news of incredible marine sightings today. Far too churned up!
Annie was one of the swimmers who went from the beach and managed it in through the surf today. Although in her late 60's she knows what she's capable of, is certainly not 'irresponsible' and loved her swim. Due to the watery blob on my camera she loses a few dress sizes in this photo!
Here are more photos of the joyous Wows enjoying the white water and starting off the day in the very best way!
The photos below were taken at the weekend when the water much clearer. If you want to learn more about the marine creatures of CTB consider coming to 'Science at the Steyne' on Wednesday 8th December. As well as a Kahoots quizz put on by Selma and myself there will be talks from scientists on Seahorse Hotels, Crayweed, Living sewalls etc. It is free with complimentary pizza! Here is the link

Have a great day folks
Lainey xx
P.S. There could be a few tickets for Salt Joy available at the door if you come early 6.30pm
B&B is BACK!!
From 1st December the Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad will resume. This means that the regular daily 7 am group swim will recommence. We request that you note the following:
- Current NSW government regulations do not require a Covid Plan for outdoor active recreation activities with up to 1000 fully vaccinated adults. If you are not fully vaccinated, please refrain from swimming with the group until Government regulations allow.
- Maintain physical distancing. NSW Health advice is to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection by staying 1.5 metres away from other people where possible and avoiding close contact with people you do not live with. In order to stay safe, please observe all Government requirements related to this aspect. It would be helpful and safer if swimmers use the beach, rather than the walkway to gather before and after the swim.
- Log your swim on our log-in site (HERE), so that we have a means of assisting contact tracing should this become necessary. If you don’t have a log-in, please sign up here.
- Be aware of and courteous to other swimmers. There will be many swimmers in the bay at once. If you collide with another swimmer, please stop and check that there has been no injury sustained, and the other swimmer does not need assistance.
Our information desk will operate every day from 6.30 to 7 am. New swimmers can sign up at that time and collect their free pink cap, courtesy of Manly Paradise Beachfront Motel and Apartments.
Volunteers Greeters Needed
In order to lighten the load on our regular and aging team, we are calling for volunteers to assist by helping at our information desk each morning to greet and induct new swimmers. You can volunteer for a regular day (weekly, fortnightly or monthly), or for random, backup assistance. You will need to be at Manly before 6.30 am to set up the desk and be able to pack away the desk after your swim. Training will be provided if required. Please contact Ian([email protected]) if you can assist. This is your chance to help ensure that our treasured group continues to flourish.
