6.30am Drinks Express heading out
Rusty and Caroline Pitch Report
Onshore NW wind. Orange skies early. A slither of moon hanging over Queenscliff. White water seen out at Deadmans. Constantly moving walkers. Scott and the Governor arrive early. 3-4 foot swell with a rolling mess of a wave. Last day of sunshine before the weekend. Quite a strong rip carries us out. The corner looks messy so straight across. Into the pack of hungry, electrically charged Jimbles about 100m off the point. My strava has a major hard right zag at that stage (Edwina knowing you like the maps feature).
Water temp at least 37 degrees. I bought a thermometer down today to check the chalky results, with cup and waterproofing and plan to map the bay. Unfortunately, I bought a rectal thermometer with a minimum temp of 37.0. The lads thoughts I should I map the bay anyway …. I declined their painful recommended course of action.
6.13am first surfer spotted between the swell
Walking round you sometimes hear the sunshine
Beating down in time with the rhythm of your shoes
Surrounded by his past, on a short white line
He sits while cars pass either side, takes his time
Trying to remember one better day
At 635am it looks a lot flatter than it feel out there.
Notes from the other side of the wall. Our group (the Machine Men) quarantines while I swim through the winter. TFS continues the Sharkbanz vs the Hawkesbury bullshark experiment, hopefully he comes back. DT focusses on red wine and golf so nothing changes. Stealthy spins in a dizzy circle lapping the local oval. Mel puts up with Chippo, and Luna gets really fit. And Chippo has been working his way through his latest project modelling to the Puppetry of the Penis book.
Thanks for the swim today Team. Don't let your true love run cold!
