Gold medals won by Australia at the Tokyo 2020-one Olympic Games (as at 12:24pm today) - 12!! yes, 12 (9 from swimming!)! Fun fact - Australia's largest gold medal haul of 17 was Athens 2004. And how good are the mixed medly relays to watch?
Like pretty much all of us, I've lost track of the number of weeks we have been in lockdown - and for alot of people, its more challenging this time around. The Olympic Games is a welcome distraction, especially the stellar performances of the Australian Team; a veritable gold rush - medals, personal bests, they keep delivering and put a smile on our faces. Hopefully the Olympics and the Aussies are bringing is joy in lockdown and inspiring us in various ways. I know there is a lot of gratitude out there from those who are able to exercise (swim with a buddy) within our allocated Zones so for those who cannot, I hope there are open spaces where you can grab a buddy and infuse in nature; the Japanese call it "forest bathing" (Shinrin-Yoku). More about Shinrin-Yoku in the following link:

My inspiration for todays blog is actually a Snoopy meme that appeared on my facebook feed this morning - " dont wait for the perfect morning, take your morning and make it perfect".... (snoopy is always full of wisdom!").... it kind of felt like a perfect way to remember to start the day with gratitude and find something positive in this crazy world (and sometimes that can be hard).
The conditions may not have been the pristine, flat, clear, sunny conditions we had been blessed with during the week, however pretty much everyone who swam today found something "perfect".
Chris and Simone saw a huge grouper and several Port Jackson sharks - swam for a bit with them. They felt the water was almost a perfect temperature and despite being a bit bumpy, "almost perfect"..
Ellie and Brett saw a beautiful Blue Grouper & caught some perfect waves back in.
Its Colleens birthday today! Colleen and Barnaby are about to swim and if they see Port Jackson sharks, that would be perfect for them. Happy birthday Colleen!
Jo and Christa - would have a perfect swim if they could see a sea horse and a dolphin and had a relaxing swim today! Christa saw the turtle yesterday and was not surprisingly excited about that - she hopes to see it again today!
Beverley & Emma … saw a baby sting ray and for them, the day couldnt be more perfect: sun, fish waves .
Sue and Bec … thought the water was a perfect temperature - cool, crisp but not cold and made them feel fabulous … they described the sunlight sparkling on the water like diamonds as another perfect moment.
Jo saw 2 jimbles - at least they are pretty!
Clare, Jenn, brigitte … they said that today’s swim will already already perfect because they’re actually "here" …. They’ll love the swim if they have a laugh & see some sea creatures
Merpeople Sue and Benny - a perfect swim is a swim together & seeing cuttlefish, Port Jackson sharks, Blue Groupers and cuty baby squid : ) For Billie their border collie, a perfect day is a day spent with her Humans.
Sparky, Tim, Ted and Shane - its Shanes bithday today - happy birthday Shane - Shane has perfect swim buddies today (in pairs)!
Its Shelleys birthday today too! Happy birthday Shelley! Perfect way to celebrate, with a swim!
Inca the 11 month old Border collie would like to go for a swim with their human - that would be a perfect day however it didnt happen :(
This is Bailey, 11 week old labrador puppy - simply perfection!
And as for me; i had a lovely near perfect swim with mer people (in pairs), Brooke, Sue, Benny, Louise and Ben... and as we are all swimming at different times to comply with the rules, we ran into Claire & Sarah at half way..... Although it was a bit bumpy the sun shon on the water sparkling like diamonds, and we still managed to see cuttlefish, Port Jackson Sharks, Blue Groupers, loads of fish and the tiniest of baby squid! It definitely made the start to Sunday almost perfect!
Hope you're all making your sunday as perfect as you can, in whatever way you can :) stay safe!
