Lots of PJS around at the moment, sometimes called the 'labradors of the sea.' They come to Cabbage Tree Bay when the water goes below 17 degrees. It was 15.8 today on a sunny but chilly beautiful morning. The water was clear and full of amazing sea creatures. The area around the Surf Club wasn't crowded, people were walking, swimming, running and enjoying their exercise in the healthy outdoors.

The sea grass before the point was glowing brightly green and the Gropers seemed bluer than ever.
Gropers were delighting swimmers all over the bay but my favourite is Gary at The Bower. He is so friendly and sometimes it's hard to get a good pic as he hangs around your legs!
Ted saw a Grey Nurse this morning near the shed. I saw this one last week chilling on rhs of Shelly.
This huge Smooth Stingray was sighted this morning too and he's missing his tail but seemed healthy enough.
A jimble-free swim! Look at that calm bay.
There are still some Cuttlefish around. Oosty led me to where two had been mating today but when I did see them they had gone their separate ways.
If you've been wondering what thse wriggly, stripey things are called they are Hula fish
Lots of Old Wives today!
The scariest creature I often see is the Kingfish chasing Yellowtail!
Saying that...this was a rather scary sighting today, Ian McNaughty sunning himself post-swim ;-)
Todd's family came down to join him after his swim today. He was excited having seen the huge Smooth Ray!
Craig and Caroline before their swim. He told me about the Octopus at Shelly yesterday that kept attaching itself to swimmers flippers! They are usually so shy. Wish I'd been there, what an experience!
Another amazing encounter for a few swimmers yesterday...A whale swam right in to the bay around midday, followed a swimmer and swam under a few. This was all witnessed by Merrilee pictured here from her balcony and Sally G on her paddleboard!
Have a great day folks!
Lainey
