'The sun's out!' Gemma and Jo cried in unison, as they leapt in excitement at the surprisingly good day! Not a drop of rain in sight and the clouds parted making way for the sunshine!
Fellow Wednesday blogger, Jocelyn, is holding court, giving a conditions report to the 7.30 swimmers who were holding onto every word. "You are all lucky to be swimming at this time" She said with conviction. "It was still dark at 6.30am when we went into the water and we couldn't see anything". Profound and sage comments. Thanks Jocelyn! 😆
This mum and her very soon to be born bub look beautiful silhouetted against the sky! Jac is due in about 2 weeks and has been swimming everyday. There have been many fruitful discussions amongst the nurses within the WOWS on how they would deliver Jac's baby in the middle of the bay if he decides to come early. So, please - nobody needs to panic! It's all sorted! 😳
Georgina, Jac, Gemma, Bee, Jo and Amanda posing for the obligatory photo at the point. I'm not sure whether Bee was being slowly dragged under the water by Gemma and Jo or whether she was lying back to hide the fact that she wasn't wearing a pink cap!! They swam up the middle of the bay to Shelly and encountered jimbles but didn't come across many on the way back!
An underwater shot of mum and bub coming back into shore, relieved that there were no jimbles at the point but did come across less clearer water than we experienced at the beginning of the swim due to the swell!
Bordo, our stalwart life guard, always on the look out for us mob! I think he deserves a medal- or at least a case of beer!
Sue makes the best protein balls! If you want to taste one, get in quick, cos they don't last long when Dave is around!
Fred was quite vocal this morning telling Ted to hurry up! Ted is obeying and packing his bag, albeit it very slowly, while he enjoys the sun on his back! A win win for everyone!
Rain, hail or shine - there's always time for a post swim coffee catchup!
Happy hump day and good luck with your winter badges!!

Winter Swimming
While we had hoped that the B&B could resume its normal activities by now, we are still bound by Covid 19 restrictions with which we would be unable to fully comply. So, for the near future, B&B’s operations will continue to be suspended. This does not mean you need to stop swimming. As an encouragement to swim, B&B will offer its usual badges over the winter swimming season. To qualify for a highly prized winter badge, you need to:
- swim from Manly to Shelly and return (or halfway swim) a minimum of 20 times between 1st June and 31st August.
- swim in at least 7 different weeks during the same period.
- log your swims.
If you manage to do all of your qualifying swims without a wetsuit (or other thermal enhancing equipment), you will also qualify for the coveted WWW badge (winter without wetsuit).
Since we no longer have restrictions on movement within the community, the Covid swim will no longer be a swim option and all swims must be at Manly. Should there be any restrictions imposed during the Winter period, The Covid Swim will return as an option.
