It was a beautiful sky greeting our swimmers this morning.
No Jimbles in the water and a freezing start to the day.
Don’t believe me? Check out the weather zone screen shot from 6.48am!
I get such a kick out of the weatherzone app! ( NB no sponsorship deals here)
In particular I love the feature “actual temperature but feels like temperature”
I want to meet the person who is saying how cold or hot they feel each day,
regardless of what the thermometer says!
I guess it would go something like,
“ so I see the temperature is 7.8 degrees this morning. I was actually feeling way colder than that…like the time we were in the mountains and it was 5.8 degrees! I think that is how cold I felt today. Let’s put that on the app this morning”
I guess down at CTB we have a similar obsession with the temperature.
We love to check out the “digital chalk board” on our way in and then decide what the water temp actually feels like! “ Feels colder” “ Feels warmer” “Tell ‘em they’re dreaming, there’s no way this water is like 17.3 degrees” “It’s warmer around the point” “ it’s colder at Shelley” “ It’s warmer in than out” “ oh my God…it’s freezing, it’s hot,
It’s warm, it’s cold, it’s windy….” You get my point.
But whilst there are humans diving in the ocean on crisp winter mornings, the obsession shall continue! We love it and we can literally talk about it all day!
Speaking of the day…how was the temperature today. It was COLD! And it felt bloody cold!!!
These weather obsessed below people would agree.
The WOW’s and co looking hot but feeling chilly!
Gemma is from the UK…does she even feel the cold?
Can’t get more chill than these yogis! Namaste!
The digital chalk board! Friend or foe???
Hi Annie! X
Jocelyn ( middle) is swimming her 10th swim without her 5ml Orca wetty from last year! Way to go…no cold feet here!
Unlike Johnny (pictured sideways) his feet are always cold! Hence the bucket!
Maybe it feels warmer at half way? Ask Peta.
At times South Steyne seemed eerily deserted…maybe everyone else saw the weather app too!
Johnny is always finding ways to stay warm!
How cold are you all feeling?
Have a great day

Winter Swimming
While we had hoped that the B&B could resume its normal activities by now, we are still bound by Covid 19 restrictions with which we would be unable to fully comply. So, for the near future, B&B’s operations will continue to be suspended. This does not mean you need to stop swimming. As an encouragement to swim, B&B will offer its usual badges over the winter swimming season. To qualify for a highly prized winter badge, you need to:
- swim from Manly to Shelly and return (or halfway swim) a minimum of 20 times between 1st June and 31st August.
- swim in at least 7 different weeks during the same period.
- log your swims.
If you manage to do all of your qualifying swims without a wetsuit (or other thermal enhancing equipment), you will also qualify for the coveted WWW badge (winter without wetsuit).
Since we no longer have restrictions on movement within the community, the Covid swim will no longer be a swim option and all swims must be at Manly. Should there be any restrictions imposed during the Winter period, The Covid Swim will return as an option.
