It was always going to be difficult for Sunday to outperform Saturday.
Saturday was a day of jimble dodging, the relief of dark fins turning into dolphins (see below) and more hooters than shark sirens. But if you lined up all your ducks in row then Sunday was a beaut - nine degrees at 7am (felt like seven) sunny, crisp and clear and an indicator of days to come.
Above: Over easy and sunny side up. The best way to have your eggs in hot brekkie after a brisk swim in cooling waters.
Above: Julie and Tony with their after-swim hot water. Tony asked me to say his name backwards, I said “y not”.
Above: Alice with friends and family. Alice uses an old wine bottle for her hot water after her swim. Shiraz infused H20 sounds like the way to go.
Above: Talking of wine, this was the art installation at the flags this morning. However it is constantly changing installation so a new four-sided artwork will have been painted by this afternoon.
Above: 'Ibis' Dave says he uses a old milk bottle filled with hot water in the colder months. However despite rummaging a few bins he has not come up with the ideal container for this winter.
Above: Kerry and Charl with today's air temperate at 7am - nine degrees with a water temp a much warmer 17.8 degrees.
Above: Mari, Ted, Roger and Sue. Mari warms up after a swim by turning on the bum heaters on car for the drive home.
Above: Matt and Geoff look forward to large hot chocolates after their swim into the breeze.
Above: Petra, Eve and Stuart heading into the blue waters before hot water bottles and coffee.
Above: Stirling goes for a run on the beach after his swim to warm up.
Above: From our octopi of Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve to the octopi of False Bay congratulations your Oscar for The Octopus Teacher and we hope you raised it proudly in the air using all six arms.
Above: Greg Parker lived to tell the tale of four ominous fins coming straight for him off North Steyne yesterday. They turned out to be dolphins much to his relief and he watched them rollicking in the surf which eased the pain of being zapped by jimbles.
Above: Richard and Paul us the slow submersion technique. Richard's method of warming up through winter is to find the best spot next to the rolldown garage door and a yarn or two.
Above: Homeward bound and following the curve.
Above: Who would have thought this clear sea was the colour of chocolate just a few weeks ago.
Above: Enjoy the last weeks of autumn - set your alarms, get out there and enjoy the amazing weather and don't duck for cover like Merlin.
A post swim coffee after a brisk swim becomes more important as the temperatures drop to restore warmth. The staff at the Manly Point Café are always happy to serve up a tasty brew to warm those digits.
We’ve come so far. Stay safe.
Remember – it ain’t over till its over.
