Today we heard the news that the southern area of the northern beaches, everywhere south of the bridge at Narrabeen, can now have more relaxed restrictions. Life makes a small step in returning to normal, and I'll be looking forward to sitting at a cafe instead of drinking cappucino on the run.
Conditions were lovely today, just like winter but warm. Calm seas, just some gentle waves, I"m guessing water was around 20 degrees, mostly clear too. I'm waiting for the Dusky Whalers now. People exercising early, coming out of surf having had a swim, running to their skis and hopping on quickly to get through the waves again. So fit!!
I found Freddy having a rest, waiting for his owners to return.
I went down the scenic route initially, and bumped into Alana who saw an octopus yesterday, so she showed me where she's hiding, and boy they do a good job and creating a little cave.
See the cute little fish trying to look in ? This wasn't far from where I saw the turtle yesterday
Still heading to Shelly I saw the Fiddler Ray
From Shelly to the point I didn't see much. Then out of the blue in the deep water was a stingaree, that we normally see in the shallows at Manly. Maybe he's lost or looking for something like breakfast?
Then I headed back to Shelly for a second lap, found Adrian standing around in the water doing nothing. A cormorant was also sitting around, looking for fish and entertaining us.
As I headed back to the point to end my double, I spotted a large flathead and a smaller one, both not moving at all.
Up to the point was plain swimming, then I started my third lap. On the lap from the point to Shelly I found a numb ray, down deep, so only one shot and getting a pic. They're quite quick to cover some ground.
I found parts of the second and third lap difficult, I was swimming alone because I'm slow and I"d quickly lost Adrian as we left to finish our second laps and start the third leg. Doesn't help I keep stopping to look at things. But at Shelly I found Lisa Boyle with Di and Jonny Schaffer and their daughter. Having that company for the last leg made a huge difference to my head space. So grateful to them all cos it made it more relaxed.
At the end of the swim we saw an eagle ray, thanks to Di's excellent sight, way too fast to get a good picture. I took a pic of Jonny diving down and coming back up afterwards.
So with that I did my triple, first one since a year ago. One badge for me :) Walking away I saw Brendan's bags on the beach, means he's doing some laps of the east coast. Also means a triple is an easy feat for him, I find that fascinating.
that's all from me folks, time for rest. Hope you all stay safe.
