I went down for an early and quick swim today, get some pics for the blog, then head home. The bay looked calm and beautiful, just a few joggers around, a few swimmers in the water, not much happening really.
I bumped into Lyndall who rode her bike down for a quiet swim alone. I caught up with her in the water, we saw a wobbegong sleeping on the ocean floor.
The wobbegongs:
I saw this PJ or Crested Horn, but it was so deep, and I'd already used all my oxygen with something else. So gave it one shot then swam away. Quite small and very deep down.
I saw these two swimmers coming towards me at one stage, more or less in tandem. So we had a brief chat about the swim and conditions. Everyone is very mindful of each others space on land and in water, and everyone including the cafe leave you with a " stay safe" farewell.

A view as I passed at the shed area
I don't know what this fish is but it's gorgeous, swimming about under me for quite a while.
My view at the end of the swim
So, as I finish this blog, about 30 people ticked their swims as covid and manly swims, water was warm and calm. Small reminder: if you swim at Manly tick whatever distance you do, to achieve your summer badge. It's all about the badge. If you swim elsewhere, as an ocean race or a leisurely swim to avoid northern beaches, tick a covid swim, still counts towards the badge, just less distance. There's two up for offer over summer.
NSW health and the Premiere are making their announcements as I write. Back to lockdown for the local community from 5pm onwards to Wednesday midnight. Exercise is allowed but not in groups and not for group coffee after, go out for work, essential shopping, visiting vulnerable people alone at home, but keep your distance and wear a mask. No travel at the moment. I hope you all stay sane and safe while we go through this again. Sing out to friends if you need to. See you next week -Edwina.
