If you have ever been privy to the *W.O.W messenger chat you would know we talk about wind...a lot!!!
Not the kind of wind you may experience from chowing down on too many baked beans...( although I think there may have been one conversation a long time ago about that kind of wind😳) the other kind, the weather kind.
Gone are the days one would simply lick a finger and hold it in the air to decide which direction the breeze or tempest is hailing from. Now we have instant communications with the **B.O.M! We study little arrows on screens that are pointing in all directions and graphs of curvy lines. We discuss swell and tides and metres and knots. We can predict the conditions from the comfort of our own beds the night before a swim and make informed decisions about whether to set the alarm or not!
And once we are there, more discussions ensue about waves, currents, jimbles, blue bottles...and more often these days...SHARKS!
But, none of the above seems to matter once you are ocean side, greeted by your swimming buddies...all of the predictions and chats about conditions slip away and you dive in to the deep, with your mates anyway...and happy that you ignored the alarm!
Here are todays blog pics of some very delighted swimming buddies. The water was 19.9 degrees. Conditions we choppy, but fun.

Oops...sorry about the tipsy turvy photo above! But It was too nice not to pop it in the blog :)
Due to government restrictions, this summer we will not be organising 6km or 10km swims or badges. Instead... we are offering the following badges:
-
Triple Manly to Shelly - swim 3x laps of Manly to Shelly Beach and back, any day during summer - distance 3.5km
-
Covid Summer Challenge - swim 30 times over 7 different weeks of summer
-
Corona Super Swimmer - swim 50 times over summer (check out the badge below)!
- I asked Ian this morning and he confirmed that any swim anywhere counts, but if it's a COVID swim you only clock up 19 metres
* Summer: 1st Dec - 28th Feb
