Always better than you expect on miserable looking days like this...and you're always glad you got in the water for a splash, a dash or even a challenging swim! Remember there's always options and most of us enter in and out at Shelly Beach when it's looking treacherous at Manly!
The first lovely people I bumped into were... Sarah and Jim, down there at 6.15am. I asked them what made them come down on a dreary, drizzly morning Sarah replied, "It's a fabulous morning! Beautiful, big waves, great company!" Her enthusiasm is contagious!
The waves were huge, only for really experienced, strong swimmers. For the rest of us we could go from Shelly or Halfway. We went to watch the surf from The Point and saw Jon checking it out also. He's still wearing his tennis skirt over his jammers ;-)
Mark tried to surf from the beach but decided to go from Fairy Bower instead.
Kara, Rusty and Sarah hang by the Surf Club wondering if and where to swim from.
A few very competent swimmers venture in at 6.30am..
Walking around to halfway I meet a new swimmer all the way from Northbridge convent...on closer inspection it's Ian in his habit-like raincoat :-)
His wife, Her Majesty Pauline was a few metres behind, just taking photos today.
Princess Grace of Capetown was just coming out of Shelly after a short, refreshing swim :-)
I walked back to check on the early swimmers and discover we have a champion South African swimming with us who coached their Olympic team. This is Jen and she beats most of The A Team except Murray of course!
Paula and Marije opt for a bit of surf watching and walking instead of swimming today.
Back at Shelly a few Wows venture in. Here we have Amanda, Di, Lisa, Lucy, Clare and Jo. (Jo does seem to have grown a foot overnight ;-)
The water is murky so the underwater shot wasn't the best even with a touch up with the Dive app!
Chrissy and Helen had a sleep in and go in at 8
Walking past The Bower at 9am at high tide there were some big ones but the walk was still safe and enjoyable.

Some photos of a few days ago when we did have some clear water in places at The Point and The Bower
Gary the Groper
A friendly green Groper who must be almost ready to change sex!
That's all for today folks. I'm so glad I got down there today and got some Vitamin Sea. Hope to see you soon!
