Yesterday's seal was still at North Steyne this morning looking like he owned the beach and giving our swim playground the seal of approval! Conditions were great this morning. A few waves, bit of bounce but warm and clearer water.
I asked the wardens guarding the seal what their usual role was.Their answer was...'Street Sweepers!'
These ladies urged me to join them with a glass of champagne for the first day of summer. The party mood starts early with our swim!
It's also Jane from the WOWS birthday today so there will be cake too!
These guys are always in a great mood after their 6.30am swim!
Although these guys have called themselves 'The Grumpy Old Men' they always seem in party mood to me!
Some have to race off to work though but I caught them in the shower. Our hard-working solicitor John doesn't really have time to party after the swim!
Some of 'The Merpeople'. I'll be seeing Lyndell in the middle at Manly West school in about 20 minutes. She'll be telling her class about the turtle she saw this morning I'm sure.
Although there were a few Blueys on the water's edge swimmers didn't report seeing any swimming to Shelly and back. Only a few at halfway. Dave and Kara
Midge, Nan and Anne E
The lovely Fiona standing infront of the 'Please Pick up here' sign at the cafe!
Jimmy is also hopeful!
Errol Abbott is out of hospital and back swimming but his good friend Derek Dreyer has asked me to ask if anyone can possibly help get Errol to and from the swim maybe once a week for a few weeks or so. His sons can't do every day. Errol lives at Wesley Gardens, Raglan Street. Please call Scott Abbott on 0434 950 908 if you could.
It's been murky and milky the past week or so so not any great underwater photos. I did spot these strange looking creatures though. Penny thinks the Leatherjacket may have an eye infection making his eyes look so bulbous. The Catfish aka Cobblerfish always looks a bit scary if you ask me!
I was pleased to see this big Blue Groper recently as we had feared he may have been speared but he was alive and well and looking for tasty sea urchins!
A Grey Nurse last week deep in murky water. Hope they re still around!
The photos above were of a few regular swimmers on Sunday. It's another quick blog as I'm off to work. School holidays will be here soon though!
Have a great day folks!

Due to government restrictions, this summer we will not be organising 6km or 10km swims or badges. Instead... we are offering the following badges:
-
Triple Manly to Shelly - swim 3x laps of Manly to Shelly Beach and back, any day during summer - distance 3.5km
-
Covid Summer Challenge - swim 30 times over 7 different weeks of summer
-
Corona Super Swimmer - swim 50 times over summer (check out the badge below)!
- I asked Ian this morning and he confirmed that any swim anywhere counts, but if it's a COVID swim you only clock up 19 metres
* Summer: 1st Dec - 28th Feb
