There have been so many shark sightings whilst swimming the past week! I mean the harmless variety of shark of course. On Saturday lots of swimmers got to see a beautiful Grey Nurse shark (or even 2,3 possibly 4!) and there have been lots of Port Jacksons and Wobbegongs about! I don't want to put the jitters up any swimmers fearful of sharks I actually think our swim encourages people to get over their fear!
This poor ENDANGERED GN has a fishing line trailing him so probably has a hook in his mouth...
BOLD & BEAUTIFUL IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING DUE TO THE RISKS OF CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19). IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE PHYSICAL DISTANCING AND FOLLOW PUBLIC HEALTH ADVICE.
Thank you for swimming at different times of the day and
please continue to maintain that 1.5m distance - even in blog photos!
I found the above info on the net, promising that we're seeing quite a few around in our little piece of paradise.
The one above is one of the smaller ones we saw.
There have certainly been loads of PJs this year. Even in today's murky waters I found this one at The Bower Surf Break where the water was clearer.
Can't forget to mention the gorgeous Wobbegong we often get to see.
A few of us got to swim with Brownie the turtle on Saturday as well as Sharks and Rays! Russian Kate was so happy to see him too. Here she is giving it the thumbs up!
It was very quiet down at the swim this morning. Conditions were a huge improvement on yesterday with calmer waters and most people going in from the Surf Club. Here are Richard, Oosty, Sophie and Kit contemplating a swim.
Cheryl is always enthusiastic!
Donald and Ted are working on their abs pre-swim or maybe just warming up.
A kind of grey day...Water temp 17.5
Nick got me more enthusiastic about swimming today as he saw 2 Grey Nurse together. One 5 foot and one 7 footer he reports! I did see the smaller one too but wasn't quick enough to get a photo today.
Anthon pretending he's swam again! Sheena had an early swim with Little Sarah and Derek and is glowingas usual.
Brave Jo back in swimming after her eye surgery. She never misses a day unless it's Doc's orders!
Look out for these ladies on a Coles ad eating mangoes in the water!
have a great day!
