This morning got off to a slow start. After a crazy week at work, and an eventful Saturday night at the Skiffy watching the rugby (go England!!), I wasn't too happy to hear my alarm go off. My mood changed though when I got down to the beach, which looked just stunning:
John and Ian had left Lower Lower Middle Management, Shaun, in charge. (When I get a moment I really must review the B&B delegations structure.) Shaun was doing a great job and had even waived the joining fee for today's newbies:
Shaun had also (allegedly) delivered the perfect water temperature, although John Bond suspected that there may have been just a little bit of doctoring going on. Well, we do live in the era of fake news:
Whatever the temperature, these early swimmers were energised after their dose of Vitamin Sea:
Matt and Felix:
Karen's got a lovely new cossie! She had it specially made and is hoping it will keep the sea lice out.
A bit wavy on entry:
Out the back though things were calmer:
Visibility wasn't too great today:
Did anyone else see the cownose rays on Thursday? They were amazing!!
The toilet block looked splendid as always. Things got bumpy again nearer Shelly:
Fiona, Kerry and Lisa enjoying their Sunday swim.
Plenty of swimmers at halfway. It was a very easy exit - the tide was so high you could simply swim up to the steps.
Introducing Rosie, Elizabeth and Frederica, excited about their first blog appearance. The first of many, I hope!
The high tide brought plenty of water on to the walkway. Thankfully I was already wet!
More gentle sets rolling in.
Anne's got new eyes!! Well, the right one, anyway. Eye 2 is getting fixed tomorrow. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Anne!
Rainer desperately searched for Jo to show off his KeepCup.
Maisy and Ned shared mum Lucy's toast.
Turbo wanted in on the action:
Last night at the Skiff Club (go England!!) I met Pierre (below, second left, with Mike, Lainey and Fi). He told me about some of the marathon swims he's done: the English Channel and also the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Pierre practises Wim Hof breathing and sits in an ice bath twice a day:
Amazing stuff!! I will definitely do some research on that (just as soon as I've watched England beat the All Blacks again :) ).
Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!
Stats:
Temp - 17.7 degrees or 27.7 degrees (you decide)
Swimmers and newbies - no idea (Lower Lower Middle Management was too busy giving out free caps to count)
The Monthly Dinner – 12th November 2019 – Guest Speaker
The Next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 12th November at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest on the night will be Allan Sparkes CV, OAM, VA FRSN, who is one of only 5 Australians in the past 44 years to be awarded the Cross of Valour (CV), Australia's highest bravery decoration. Allan will speak about "What is the rarely recognised element of courage and why is it so important today?" Is courage about overcoming fear? willingness to risk your all, an inner strength? perhaps it is about choice, leaving a place of safety to go to a place of danger? But how often do we consider courage is about the willingness to care. In his talk Al Sparkes will touch on the times he has had to be courageous to help others and the times he stopped caring about himself. And what he did to recover his life from the pits of hell.
Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential. To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book at www.boldandbeautifulmanly.com.au/bb-bluewater-monthly-dinner.html .
