Still cloudy with intermittent rain this morning, we were greeted by the endoskeletal remains of one our cephalopod companions. Hopefully it found love before being eaten by its fellow CTB residents
But enough of doom and gloom and onto the matters of the morning
A newbie whose name I have forgotten (sorry!) with her Dad whose name I have also forgotten (again, very sorry). Hope you had fun!
A remarkable t shirt and a rather optimistic sign. The Surfriders did get their monopoly of the space, but a little later than they would have liked.
Sherry-Ann and Ashley, who post swim delighted in telling me they had seen the Grey Nurse AND the turtle.
Kara also saw the grey nurse as did several of the early swimmers
Contemplating the swim to come
The Management recommendation was for anyone feeling uneasy about the conditions to swim from Shelley - some did, some didn't
Jo and Colby went to Shelley. Colby was excited to see his friends and go for a walk
On the way to Shelley we spotted Lainey on a 10km run
I'm not a fan of half way but this morning the conditions were sufficiently benign to facilitate a safe entry and exit for even the most chicken-hearted, if these were timed well.
Leisa and Wendy who are definitely not chicken-hearted
I did not spot the grey nurse, a turtle, a PJ or a wobbegong but I did see this handsome blue groper.
Gropers eat rocks. Gropers are tough. Don't mess with the groper
I also spotted some seaweed as if that's any consolation
And through the cloudy water, some diamond fish
A swimmer surrounded by bubbles
At Shelley
Some swimmer action - hand and foot here
Following this morning's swim we headed to the Royal Far West Children's Home for the winter badge ceremony. 2 badges on offer for the winter swims - the Cold and Bold for 20 swims over 7 weeks between 01 June and 31 August and the covetable www (winter without wetsuit) badge. This year's colour theme is a lively green, with pink highlights.
Here are some of swimmers receiving their badges from Management. Rather a lot of photos so I made them small so as to be able to upload them all.
Congrats to everyone.
Ian is not sure about this... JK just thankful

The Monthly Dinner – 8th October 2019 – Guest Speaker
The Next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 8th October at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest on the night will be Local Manly physiotherapist, Jim Burke. Jim will speak about shoulder injuries in swimmers. He will cover a brief outline of the mechanics of the shoulder as well as common causes of injury and a few stretches and exercises that are great in helping prevent ‘swimmer’s shoulder’.
Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential. To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book at www.boldandbeautifulmanly.com.au/bb-bluewater-monthly-dinner.html .

What am I listening to? Today's offering is a tribute to Ric Ocasek who has joined the Great Jam Session in the Sky at age 75. He was the front man and creative impetus for The Cars. This (Bye Bye Love) was not their biggest hit but I really like everything about this clip.
Have a great week
