Trevor the Turtle wasn't to be seen today unfortunately nor the Grey Nurse, but we did get lots of sightings at the weekend so there's a good chance they're still around! It was a beautiful swim though. The sun was up, water calm and quite clear... and lots of grinning swimmers :-) :-)
A few more early swimmers today than there has been with the fair weather and light morning.
Ian introduced me to Kate from Russia before the swim. She was one of the 4 newbies out of around 180 swimmers. She came down from Horrrnsbee!
It was Ali's birthday today. These guys swim early, very early!
Talking of early swimmers...here is Shark Pete who bumped in to the Grey Nurse back in June. I asked him to show me his scars!
He had over 30 stitches in his leg but was back in the water at 5.40am, (his usual time) 3 weeks later when his Doctor gave him the all clear. In all the years the B&B has been going and hundreds of thousands of laps we've swam across the bay this is the first and only unfortunate shark encounter we've seen. Got to be the least dangerous sport ever!
Champion blogger/photographer Anne and super Mum and celebrant Sophie get together for a pre-swim photo.
David enjoys a cuddle with Leisa and Karen as a wave wakes them up. David is sporting his 33 year old wetsuit again. (Has anyone got a wetsuit older than that??)
Newly qualified life saver Michael Sheehan, (well done Daphne too!) brings along Tim who was on his course for his first swim with us!
Shelley, Melise and Candice just after they got hit by a 17 degree (temp) wave!
At Shelly I meet another newbie, 11 year old Lil, swimming the B&B for the first time with Dad Will!
Amelia's got around 4 weeks to go before bub's arrival and still enjoying her Vitamin Sea!
Jo and Leisa at Shelley
On the way back I had my eye out for Trevor the Turtle and Freckles the Grey Nurse but my most exciting sighting was when this Wobbegong came out from the weed and swam before me!
Love the Diamondfish
This school of fish were swimming in a tightly packed school. Are they Mullet or something else? Mullet usually swim near the surface. If you've an idea please comment on bottom of blog.
Coming around the point back in to shore, over the beautiful green sea grass, I saw this cute Cuttlefish. I've seen them change from purple to orange and then a sandy colour but this was the greenest I've ever seen a Cuttlefish look! Their ability to camouflage is amazing!
It's so beautiful swimming close to the rocks over the sea grass. Here I got a Crimson Banded Wrasse, female Groper and Mados in one frame!
A few more Wows today. A couple of them back from their wonderful art/yoga/swimming holiday on the Greek island of Astapalea!
Ruth and Shane bring along their daughter Ella for her first swim today!
Two of our favourite swimmers Derek and Justus enjoying a chat post-swim with Derek's gorgeous rescue dog Bindi. We hope Justus can get in the water tomorrow after a recent bout of Shingles.
Yesterday these lovely ladies swam with us sporting fantastic shark cozzies made from recycled plastic bottles! Look up Batoko swimwear on the net to buy!
The A Team have been a bit thin on the ground lately (scared of cold water??) but there were a few yesterday.
I also got a shot of this Scorpionfish yesterday with Yellowtail in background.
And to finish off another photo of the Turtle snapped on Sunday. Have a great day folks!
