It is hard to believe that we are nearly a quarter through 2019!
This popped up this morning care of the lovely Maria Andrew (insta @bymariandrew), I thought we could put
ocean swimming and into the puzzle that makes up a Southern Hemisphere March.
It was a dark drive from Cammeray, and a moody morning at Manly
greeted me. The flashing lights of the brave souls of the 6.15am
just swimming round the point as I pottered to the Tree. People emerged
and a 6.30am crew and we swam in warm, clear waters with a couple of duskies
and the odd bit of weed. A little bump, a little wave, a time to reflect.
Behind the morning smiles, the stories abound.
I asked if I could take a photo of Roz, Roz was catching a quick dip before "womaning' the cake stall this morning.
The stall, in support of International Woman's Day, raised funds and provided an opportunity for a well-known local specialist gynaecologist Dr Ray Hodgson to sign his the book he has recently written, Dr Ray and his team have spent a lot of time in Nepal over the years, assisting women with issues associated with pelvic organ prolapse, and working to reduce high infant and mother mortality rates due to pregnancy and birthing complications.
Dr Hodgson will be heading off to Nepal for his 18th surgical camp in May, but in his “spare” time he’s also been busy writing a book, Heartbreak in the Himalayas. Proceeds from the sale of this book will go towards funding a much needed Mothers and Babies Hospital in Dolakha, Nepal.
We have people in our community who contribute in amazing ways, we swim side by side great human beings, it does not go unnoticed. Thank you Roz and Ray and all the cake bakers to.
Enjoy the weekend, whatever it holds. Bitsa Blogger Barb
