After a week of beach being closed , rough surf at times and lots of blue bottle stings, finally conditions were returning to normal. As I write this blog at Manly Wine in the afternoon, conditions are even better hopefully for tomorrow. Calm, uncrowded beach and not a wave in sight.
Today we had some bumpy waves in the beach and bay but nothing to complain about. It was all part of the fun of turning up on the weekend to enjoy our dose of Vitamin Sea with friends.
Two friends helping each other get ready for the swim:
Newbie Mish with her pink cap, hope you enjoyed your swim:
Patiently waiting for the 7am call:
Couldn't believe all the people today and just couldn't capture it:
Lots of fun getting through the waves and we couldn't help but notice the slight drop in temperature, still a glorious swim though:
I bumped into this man waiting for his friend to catch up, had a cheery smile on his face:
I couldn't see any marine life really, a few little diamond fish initially appeared like jellies in my peripheral vision. Gill and Jonathon caught my camera as I arrived at Shelly:
Everyone at Shelly was bouncing around and hopping in front of my camera, a simple thing like swimming in the ocean can create such joy, all those positive chemicals released as we exercise.
throughout the swim from beginning to end I bumped into Georgina and Belinda, so at the end we took a selfie as we approaced the point and more surf again:
they're behind this wave somewhere:
The wows had a beauty party on the wall today, natural remedies for beautiful skin apparently:
Ian and two newbies after the swim:
I had a sting during the week, and once I landed on shore, got myself some hot water, very unconventionally I must admit. Then after 5 mins I put this cream on a few times and after 15-30mins the welts had gone and sting disappeared. I think the clue was hot water initially, with no rubbing or scratching, and I was asked by swimmers on friday to share the cream. Thanks for Anne Edwards for giving it to me months ago.
Today's stats: 46 newbies, 450 total swimmers, temperature 19.5
This Sunday 20th January, Manly Club is having it’s Nippers Carnival and so we will be swimming from Shelley Beach at the normal times.
Have a lovely weekend everyone :)
Edwina.
