Today was a bumpy ride in this corner of the globe with the nor' easterly in full effect. The air temp felt like winter at about 9 degrees. But as always there was the pink capped squad ready to enter the water. The water temperature was 16.2 degrees, basically luke warm hahaha and 205 swimmers entered the water at 7am including 2 newbies.

Humans of the Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad
It has been nearly 10 months since my last blog (I know I know, I am a slacker). Those of you who remember my blogs know
I like to do a little segment called "The Humans of the Bold and Beautiful". I ask the following questions:
"When and why did you start swimming with the Bold and Beautiful?"
"How does it make you feel?
Introducing Jill
"I started swimming in August 2015. I started swimming because my now husband Matt, my super hot husband Matt had been swimming forever. He used to come out of the water and say how clear and beautiful it was. For a whole year I would come down here and watch him, but I was never brave enough to come in the water. Then one day I just did and I have been swimming ever since."
Introducing Peter
"I started swimming with the Bold and Beautiful about four and a half years ago. The reason I started swimming with the Bold and Beautiful was because Penny had already started and she convinced me that I should come and join. It is a great way to start the day and the fellowship and friendships are really fantastic. It is more than a swim."
Introducing Sarah (Tomorrow is her One Thousand)
"I started swimming at the end of 2010 nearly 8 years. I have always lived here and I love the ocean. It makes me feel amazing it is my meditation."
Introducing Andrea
"I started swimming with my friend Suze in February 2017. We had been swimming in a pool and she came with a friend and then came back to me and said, 'We are not swimming in a pool anymore we are swimming down here because it is like an aquarium.' The first couple of times I didn't love it. Then the third swim I loved it and now I feel desperate if I haven't been for a week and I feel all the stress of the week disappear out of my finger tips." (Pic-Left: Suze, Right: Andrea)
Introducing Emily
"The first time I swum was with my friend from Sweden in early March. We swam with our friend's husband who is a life saver because we thought we may drown. I love everything about it, I love the wildlife and the people. But I do not like the waves. It is just a nice way to start the day." (Pic-Right Emily, left:Pauline)
Introducing the gorgeous Annie
"I started swimming when I was 9 obviously not with the Bold and Beautiful, I have lived around the world and where ever I have lived I have found a swimming pool. So when I moved to Manly in 2013, I didn't actually swim with the Bold and Beautiful for the first few months and I found a pool. But I quickly transferred when i found the Bold and Beautiful and I have been swimming here ever since.
It is the best part of my day. I am not sure what is best, whether it is the swim itself or the community including the friendships and the fun. When it is cold like it is in the winter, the sense of community is stronger. The winter swims are so fab with the clarity of the water and because not as many people swim, you get to know people better."
In 1 week it will be 3 years since I became part of this pink cap wearing, winter swimming, amazing squad of humans. Thank you for the incredible journey and friendships.
Lovely meeting a few new faces today, many of you mentioned that you had read about me in previous blogs and felt like you already knew me. That is pretty cool. Just a quick little update on me, my health is wonderful and I am living my best life. I am considered to be cancer free now. I just returned home from my bucket list Euro holiday with my husband Vira. Plus, Pink Hope a non profit organisation raising awareness for breast and ovarian cancer invited me to be the face of a new lipstick which is called "Authentic". So life is pretty incredible.
I hope you have a fabulous Saturday,
Much love

Monthly Dinner – 11th September 2018 – Guest Speaker
The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 11th September at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker on the night will be one of our swimmers, Jennifer Mulveny, who will share the benefits of mindfulness during our swims and in our daily lives. Jennifer is a certified yoga instructor and passionate student of mindfulness. She leads the beach yoga sessions on Manly Beach before our swims every Thursday morning, constantly reminding students that mindfulness can be done on and off the yoga mat, before a beautiful sunrise, or just as well sitting in traffic or standing in a queue. The presentation will include some mindfulness practice that can be used during swims or as part of a regular home practice.
