Yes we've had a week of rain, doom and gloom but rest assured from today the days will get longer and we can start looking forward to Bondy's summer swim program - not before we've all ticked off our 20 winter swims.
This keen lot never rain or the cold get to them. This morning they were at it again with an "unofficial" Solstice swim - taking their swimmers off at the point - swimming to Shelly in only their birthday suit before getting changed at the point again so as not to scare the natives waiting at the shore for their 6.30 or 7am swim.
The official B&B Solstice swim is on this weekend - but please respect the residents near Shelly that are trying to sleep in at the weekend and keep the early morning solstice laughter and frivolity down if possible.
At the moment we are frantically ticking off our swims for our "Cold and Beautiful" winter badge with the idea to swim 20 times over seven different weeks in winter.
Tips are:
- Get as many done early as you can so as it gets a little cooler and the the temptation of a nice warm bed wins out you're not dreading the thought of having to swim five days this week to get your badge.
- Bring a milk bottle filled with hot water from the tap - wrap your towel around the bottle so when you get out of the water you have a nice hot water supply and a warm towel to boot.
- Just get in and get swimming - winter is my favourite time to swim - the water is so nice and clear, all those that made a New Years resolution to swim more with B&B have fallen by the wayside and its just the die-hards who like you have made the choice to get up and get moving that join you.
- Dolphins frolic nearby
- Time your run to Shelly so you don't have to wait to long as its always colder at Shelly Beach.
Yesterday the dolphins were out playing and on Monday they were frolicking and jumping right at the point by Queensie - Bernard perhaps its time you venture down that way again soon.
Annie and the Berents were both there bright and early dodging the rain.
Its Shaun's walking day today - but he still popped in to say morning to us all including the lovely Lisa from the WOW's althought I did notice that the wall had moved this morning closer to the surf club in the dry.
Nat always has a smile on her dial.
The Chapman's seem to be in a competiton to see who can do the most damage to themselves. Earlier this year Melissa had a mountain biking accident that resulted in a clipped wing for a number of months but now Brian is sporting damaged ribs following a basketball incident - stick to swimming Brian - less chance of injury.
Edwina has been in Canberra at the Cartier exhbition but was back with the pink caps this morning along with Lainey who usually runs with the Manly Beach Running Club before her daily swim.
Who are these blog tarts? If there's a camera around you're bound to find Rainer!!!! Hope you enjoyed the swim this morning guys.
Martin is just back from Mexico where he and Michelle had some great swimming experiences including swimming with Whale Sharks while John and Robyn were both swimming today as well.
The A-Team time their run to Shelly so they don't have to wait as long for everyone to arrive.
John again.
Sheena just loves her morning swim.
Found these lovely ladies and Greg off the point - even though the skies were dreary the water was just divine.
'Til next time have a great week
Myrtle the Turtle
Stats:
Water temperature 18.4
Newbies (whoops forgot to check)
Swimmers not as many as winter.
