We love winter swimming and as if the ocean knows we are about to start working hard on our winter badges the water temperature has dropped below 18 degrees, this morning was a chilly 17.5. There's still plenty of brave souls not slipping into a wetsuit, but for a large portion of the team its a morning push, pull, jump and breath in to get the buggar on!!!!!! For me I prefer to hold off on the wetsuit as long as possible, apart from the initial gasp as you enter the water, as soon as you are under and get those arms moving its actually quite a lovely experience.
We love Ian, he does so much for the group and is always happy to help get the swimmers ready for their morning swim whether it be a pep talk about the water temperature or helping zip up a wetsuit. He loves his morning cuddles and kisses too!!!!
Val needed a hand to get zipped up this morning, guess who was on hand to help (sorry about the sideways photo).
The boys did a Bolderdash down to Queensie this morning - it was perfect conditions with very few waves, a spectacular sunrise and plenty of fish to see.
It was the most spectacular sunrise with the water turned firey red for a few seconds - why wouldn't you want to come out from under the warm doona just to see this.
Bryon is all ready for the winter badge which starts tomorrow, complete with his special Tasmanian hat. If you want to earn the Cold and Beautiful badge this winter you need to swim 20 times on 7 different weeks during winter (from tomorrow). Do it without a wetsuit and you'll also earn the WWW badge.
Sorry about the short blog - camera issues - Lips needs to empty out his pockets and return all the SD cards he has stashed away for the camera!!!!
Anyway till next time have a great day and keep swimming
