It is Friday the 13th and you all know what that means. Yes, lots and lots of emails from websites that you have shopped at or almost shopped at sending you BIG ADS to shop a lot because it is black Friday. I feel so vulnerable because the ads keep coming even though I unsubscribe. Maybe it is because I keep doing the online shopping. I don't know. But this morning I worked out how to feel more robust. Have a BB swim. It was glorious. Water was warmish and the visibility was goodish and the swim was fantastic.
Newbie Matthias. I got him later with goggles
Is that Nick Martin near the coffee shop?
Here is Myles from New York. He likes seeing people out early doing things and smiling. He blogs about beautiful places and smiling faces around the world - www.mylestanze.com and he certainly found some smiles here today. He was going to just photograph while our Fabienne swam but he was overwhelmed and decided to swim. Wise man
Toby kindly posed for a shot with mum
Here is Paul ready for a great swim having completed stretching and other preparations (my preparation involves a drive to Manly and also watching the swimming on TV)
Contemplating the beauty of Manly
Thanks to Anne for the great shots of the turtle and other fish yesterday
Maxine saw the turtle today. Turtles around means no blue bottles. YES! apart from being so lovely, they also eat blue bottles. Bad for bluebottles. Good for swimmers
Encounters on shore with the early swimmers I got a shot of before
Look carefully - I got a shot of a body surfer in the wave here
Isn't body surfing elegant
Matthias in goggles! with friend
Rainer again but not in the background
Jackie with her special case for the go pro. Oh no. Having seen this I will have to go on line to buy one of these
So lucky to Inge and Bryan near Shelly. I overheard Matthias asking Inge how long it takes to swim to Shelly - her answer (as a champion swimmer and winner of Cole Classic and other races) would have been different to mine...
Management notices
The host of the hit ABC series War On Waste, Craig Reucassel, is back filming the second series!
Come down to Manly Beach this Saturday 14th of April from 6am and see the giant plastic footprint in the sand that shows how much plastic Australian's use and throw away.
The War On Waste team welcome all B&B swimmers to come down & say hi (on &/or off camera) to show their support for reducing our plastic usage and the impact on the environment.
What I am reading
I have been reading Saga land by Richard Fidler. It is great. You will recall that I really loved his book on Istanbul and the Byzantine Empire, The Ghost Empire. In that he mentioned the fascinating information that warriors from Iceland worked in Istanbul during that empire. And we think our world is global. This book is a bit about the Icelandic sagas and a bit about Richard's friend Kari. It is a very interesting read.
