A Good Friday Swim

A big crowd gathered at the Medibank Bold and Beautiful swim this morning! (I'm kidding... send all angry messages to Bruce)...

What a wonderful Good Friday swim - it's just so nice to see everyone emerge on a public holiday, people greeting each other, swimming together!

Newport John re-emerged from a busy school term. He trains in a pool during the week, so always comes back to the Bold and Beautiful fit and ready to go! Richie... well Richie is a good bloke. 

Richie (the good bloke) sent me this photo of the point from h_r_m_photography on instagram. Great view of Scrappy Scotty's Passage. I went through this morning, as did Newport John (who took a bit of skin off in the process).

It was a Triple Crown swim for the A-team. Kid 1st, Newport John 2nd, Scrappy 3rd, Mark 4th, Bishop 5th...

Is that Dave Panton in the middle of this next photo with Sterling, Woody, JP and Pete Anthony las night? No, It's none other than Lionel Richie! I gave up my ticket to go pick up my wife from the airport (Husband of the Year). She is back from India where she has been visiting some homes for girls rescued from sex trafficking. Harrowing and yet hopeful experiences.

Finally, it is Good Friday, a day of spiritual significance for many.

I'm having one of those seasons at the moment where the difficulties of life, people's brokenness, my own mess, even poverty seem all around me. Easter speaks into the human condition like no other event in our calendar. There is injustice and suffering, death and betrayal, but also incredible hope and love, power and new life.
