PHYSALIA - BLUEBOTTLEs (AKA) PORTUGESE/PACIFIC MAN-O-WAR have been menacing us for a few weeks leaving their marks on many B&Bers.
Trish was hit last Saturday .
Lips’ famous sting is part the Australian Museum’s collection.
Sam’s Harry Potter scar lasted long enough to become a Roger cartoon.
I wear a wrist to knee rashy for stinger protection so I was quite concerned after taking these bluey shots this morning @5.47am!!!!
While management debated.
I took the safe option and swam in the harbour with Jackson & Mark@6:20.
So I thought it timely to seek out the latest recommendations on stings.
How to treat a bluebottle sting:
- Remove any blue tentacles stuck to the skin (don’t rub the area)
- Rinse the area with sea water (not freshwater)
- Place the sting in hot water (no hotter than comfortably tolerated) for 20 minutes to relieve pain
- If hot water is unavailable, or does not provide pain relief, apply cold packs or ice
- Send for medical assistance if symptoms persist.

In the rare event of a cardiac arrest, not that stingers usually cause this, check
the following link starring Richard Roxburgh;
Cardiac arrest 1st aid - Rake style
Todays stats: 240 swimmers, 4 newbies, ? Water temp.
One of the newbies.
Capless Dave braved the surf @ 6:05 and gave the “no blueys” thumbs for the rest of the crew........
.....who as far as I know enjoyed a bluey free swim.
I caught the A team warming up. Suck it in.
Some of Murray’s growing group of beach babes.
Jim had some hot news that..
Quetza from NYC via Mexico was #1 today.
But the A team disputed this.
Finally a very Happy Birthday to our favourite journalist Julia.
Have a great week ahead
Simon
Thanks to Fifi for today’s sign off shot.
