Another top Sunday. Management is still counting, but I'm estimating 321 swimmers, including, let's say, 12 newbies.
Roz and John were there..
..and so were Robin and Brendan:
Ian was signing up newbies:
The Girls:
The Boys:
Helen and Stacey ruining an otherwise beautiful shot of Little Sarah:
Shaun back from Tonga:
..boasting..
The 7am crowd walking down the ramp:
As i watch swimmers walking down the ramp I reflect on the various spin-offs the group has spawned over the past years. Too many to cover in a single blog. But here's a start..
The 7am options (Part 1)
The Regular - swim from the Club to Shelly and back. Tried and tested. Good enough for most of us.
Ted's Triangle - invented by Ted, popularized by Derek. Great if you're running late. Or if you want to mix it up. Or if you just love the adrenaline rush that comes from crossing the bay ahead of an angry A-Team about to t-bone you from the left:
The Lesbubs - if you can't be bothered..
The Cappuccino - popularized by Bill McPherson. Great choice if you're not that much into swimming but love hanging out with swimmers:
(to be continued)
Back to the swim - I took Gemma on as my blogging intern today. Her only responsibility was to remember names of swimmers while I take photos and look after pretty much everything else.
Gemma and Melbourne:
Hands up if you don't love Jacqui's cozzies... thought so:
Over at Shelly, Rusty kindly offered to have his photo taken. Meanwhile, my intern stepped on something squishy..
Reminder that the swim is not tickable without pink caps - sorry lads..
On the way back I bumped into Gunnar..
..Maryanne and Paul..
..as well as Bella who brought one of today's newbies - welcome Freya!
Finally, Lainey washed up next to us - presumably from a reverse Ted's Triangle:
Bill kindly waited for me at the ramp:
Here are a few samples from my series 'Aging white males with grey hair':
Brian brought his brother Andrew down for the swim today:
Midge baiting dogs:
..catching Jo:
Special shout-out to Little Sarah who looked after me at Manly Wine, swaddling me in blankets, feeding me poached eggs and avocado, and ensuring continuous supply of cappuccino until 10am:
That's all folks. Have a great Sunday!
It's a beautiful day out there. Soak up the sun! Hug someone.. Feed someone Devon!
Lips x
The stats:
