The gusty, windy conditions were very deceiving. As I lay tucked under my duvet, in the darkness of pre dawn, listening to the howling wind, I imagined the conditions at Manly would be less than ideal. Blogging duties ensured I made it down to the Beach before sunrise where all my doubts and unnecessary concerns of foul weather were allayed. It remained quite windy with a 14knot NWN wind hitting the bay dead on, but the 15 degree air temperature was positively warm. The water was still over 18 degrees and with a very low tide of just over .5 of a metre, was very enticing.

Always cheerful and upbeat, Nat has the day off today. So not only can she swim, she can spend the day with her darling husband.
I love the fact that there are always a couple of expectant mums down at the swim. It is such a wonderful form of exercise when pregnant.

The swim out from the beach was quick and after we had all gathered at our own interpretation of the Point, we seemed to get to Shelly at high speed. No doubt aided by those winds. The return journey was quite different. The choppy water surface and prevailing current made it hard work. At times I felt I was swimming backwards. Visibility was limited in the Bay but better over the rocks.

B&B MONTHLY DINNER - GUEST SPEAKER
The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 8th August at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker on the night will be travel agent Brett Goulston, whose talk is entitled "20 places you should visit even though you may never have heard about them and probably can’t pronounce them"
Brett is co-owner of Blue Dot Travel (with two of our B&B swimmers, Brod Brennan & Joanne Coughlan). All three are travel tragics who have travelled to most of the corners of the globe and are passionate travellers, swimmers and walkers.
