First off, apologies for no water shots - my man-flu prevented me getting too close to the action but I still wanted to document the ways that we, the B&B, celebrate the Queen's Birthday.
You might say we were putting on pretty English weather in honour of the 91st birthday of our head of state but I thought there might be more to it than that and I wanted to hear what the Queen's Birthday meant to our own crew.
Obviously all thought a swim across the channel was a great way to start...
Some said that Manly was crowned for the occasion
And after their return, many were willing to open up about what the Queen's Birthday means to them.
Some dressed up in their finest Royal Blue to mark the occasion
Rainer, resident German, also wished the Queen a happy birthday and noted that technically, he is just as German as our Queen.
Some were getting buff in hope of getting the call up for her 95th birthday - the Stripper Position is still unfilled
My money is on Dorset!
Resident American, Derrick, wished Queen Elizabeth the best and wanted to remind her of King George's birthday in 1776, when he realised he had to find somewhere else to send his convicts...
Interesting post script is that George decided to build a city in Canada to dump all their convicts - he called it Sydney as well. Lord Sydney obviously a very popular guy!
The 6:30 crew were more excited for the Queen's Breakfast than the holiday
These lads all had fond memories of the Queen's Birthday when they were kids
Or as they called it, Guy Fawkes Day.
As a maths teacher, Sam's lesson for any kids out there was that a bunger + pile of dogpoo differentiated with respect to the front yard = in a smelly screen door and a chase with the low gradient side of the wooden spoon.
While, under Annie's leadership, these three were more looking forward to the clothing holiday on the solstice.
Although the Regal Towel was a real crowdpleaser!
One member was furious that there was no lolly bag for a so-called birthday!
Maybe the best summary was these ladies who felt the Queen's Birthday holiday was just another day you could spend in Bali!
Or it was these three: "it's the best holiday because it's the only one where the kids do not expect a present...
but somehow we still end up getting them something.'
So there you have it Lizzie,
Happy birthday - for April 21!
All the best for a good week ahead everyone!
Also, remember tomorrow (Monday) we need to assemble at the silver chairs as there is a comp on at the surf club!
