For the past week, I have unashamedly been eating Hot Cross Buns like they are going out of fashion, because I know that very soon, they will be gone, and I will have to wait until Boxing Day for them to reappear on our supermarket shelves again. I love Hot Cross Buns, or HCBs; they are the perfect snack and in my mind, they certainly substitute as a meal; you've got fruit, carbs and fats all in one delicious bun, what more could we ask for?
In celebration of the humble HCB, I have dedicated today's blog to discovering opinions on the traditional Easter bun.
The beautiful morning sun was a great time to reflect (as well as to think about whether I would have a chocolate HCB or traditional HCB for breakfast, post swim)
Mother and son team, Karen and John. John has told his mum he will come for a swim for aaaaages, so he finally did. Nice work, John. Hope you enjoyed the swim and enjoyed some well deserved HCBs!
Harriet has been meaning to come for a while, but prefers HCBs over early mornings (me too, Harriet, me too.) She tells me that she woke up early today, and thought why not?
A bit of a chill first getting in, but we all warmed up as soon as we got going.
Bobbin' around at the point, being good sports for a pic!
At Shelley, an important straw poll was conducted.
The question - do you think HCBs should be available year round?
A resounding yes from these legends.
This entire group (bar one) said no, including a suggestion that raisin toast is the same thing anyway. Blasphemy!
It was a yes from these guys, despite being gluten intolerant (so that counts for more, in my opinion)
Mixed answers from this team, leaving me with some things to ponder, like would the special effect they have no longer exist if they were freely available? Is it their limited availability that is such a drawcard? Thanks for the deep thoughts, guys!
Another mixed group, with the no vote winning, 5 to 1.
These guys were all aboard the yes train, good answer!
These guys really wanted their yes vote to count when I lobby Baker's Delight with my proposal, so they jumped in and voted yes again.
The swim back - motivated by the thought of HCBs, I think I swam a little faster than usual today.
Look who I spotted?
So what do you think? HCBs 365 days of the year - yay or nay?
