Happy Christmas folks! (It is still Christmas time of course.) Well around 80 swimmers swam the harbour today... to the toilet roll and back, aka Kilburn Tower. Another lot swam from the beach and some from halfway. Oceanside was quite rough with a report of bluebottles but most swimmers didn't see any. Wherever they went all swimmers seemed to enjoy their swim on a warm, sunny morning with 21 degree water!
Sunrise around 5.45am...
The Drinks Express head out from the beach at 6.30am
It's 6.50am and Peter and Penny with Fernanda from Chile and newbie friend. Peter dragged Penny along sleep walking to the swim today!
'Apprentice Manager' Shaun decides to advise people to swim at the harbour today at 7am as bluey reports and choppy, rippy conditions swimming out from the Surf Club. A wise thing to do with all the new swimmers we are getting at the moment.
Annie and Simon bring some friends living in Bangkok for a swim today.
Over at the harbour Anne tells people to swim out and wait near the Skiff Club which is 'The Point' today and then enjoy the swim to the Toilet Roll!
Debbie's friend Sarah decided to dye her hair pink rather than wear a pink cap ;-)
And off we go!
The Point today, outside The Skiff Club!
I actually ran around to the toilet roll and called out to you all to wave!(The first shot on the blog). This is just after the Let's Go.
Swimming with the Manly ferry!
Sue and Greg who have clocked up so many kilometres the last few weeks, (I think Sue did 137 in 30 days) did a double of course in the harbour!
Ewan with Jessica and newbie Fiona, (think that's right!)
Back at the Surf Club we meet the naughty people who defied Shaun's advice and swam to Shelly. Rainer aka Lips was the one who led them to it of course! (A lot of people like Elizabeth and Gayle arrived a bit late to hear this btw) Swimmers reported not seeing a single bluebottle and quite an exciting swim in with the waves. For safety sake though I'm sure Shaun did the right thing and the harbour swim was flat, calm and clean.
Now a bit I loaded yesterday when I had more time...
What a busy holiday time we've been having! Record numbers of swimmers including over 100 newbies on Christmas Eve, the 8th anniversary of the B&B yesterday and a few swimmers achieving their 1000 km or 500 km swims!
Like friendly and funny Ian aka Shelly.
and lovely Jill yesterday reaching 1000 kms
Jo has been swimming less than 2 years but hit 500 kms on Saturday.
We also had lots of swimmers bringing family down to the swim. Rusty has his sister and family visiting from England...
and Shelley's family from Beecroft swam with her on Christmas Day!
Nicky and Ronald's gorgeous daughters swam on Christmas Day too!
Underwater antics!
Sarah's son Fraser joined us for a swim on Christmas Day.
News of the week! Stephen and Krystina secretly got married on Christmas Eve and surprised family and friends by announcing it at their Deck Blessing party on Boxing Day!Congratulations to this lovely couple who did a lot of their 'courting' swimming with the B&B!
