Such an eerie, mysterious, foggy sky this morning, especially as we swam back from Shelly. It felt like it might well be the end of the world... Well if it is, I thought, I'm glad I'm out here in the ocean swimming across Cabbage Tree Bay, the best place to be! The blog title today is courtesy of Edwina :-)
The sun rose beneath a band of smokey cloud as the fast 6.30am swimmers exited the water...
The 7amers headed for the sun ball in 17.7 degree water. It's the 8th week of Winter swimming and a few are getting their Winter badge qualification today and for some the 'WWW'. As I'm filling in for Andrew on blogging duty and I've just had an internet failure and lost one hour of photos, it's a quick blog from now on!
By 8am the sky has totally changed, there's blue sky, the world hasn't come to an end...
and the WOWers (or Women of the Wall) are still here thank goodness!
Plenty of Port Jacksons around at the moment. If you are lucky you might see them mating. (Look for a bright white shape, they turn over and are white underneath).
And the huge Smooth Stingray many of us have seen lately was quite close to shore yesterday. Water clarity isn't good hence not very clear photos.
Have a great day everyone and don't forget the 2nd Skinny Swim at 6.20am on Sunday. There's a badge to be had too!
MEN'S WORK
Men's Wellbeing invites all Sydney men to the next Common Ground men's group starting on 30 July. Common Ground is a program run by men, for men. Queensland based Common Ground has been running for 15 years. They say, “… we know it works, because men (and their partners) rave about the program. There are profound benefits when men have the opportunity to discuss with other men the things that matter, and have the conversations that they need to have.”
Anyone with questions please feel free to chat with Roger Harvey - who did the course in Byron Bay 14 years ago)
Common Ground will run it’s program on the Northern Beaches over two weekends: 30-31 July and 20-21 August. If you know of someone who might enjoy a new men's group why not let them know? For more info - talk to Matty on 0419 172 890 or email[email protected]

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.
