A total of 190 happy swimmers submerged themselves in a tantalising mixture of rotting seaweed and feacal matter this morning. How lucky are we!
Unsurprisingly, the group was abuzz with toilet humour. Poo jokes everywhere.
Lesbubbles found this fine specimen of a turd..
(see photo below, not above)
Here's a fun fact about Lesbubbles: Her parents named her after a famous former brothel (now restaurant) in Brisbane:
True story.
Beach clean-up:
The beach clean-up continues. It is great to see so many B&B swimmers picking up plastic rubbish every morning. Let's keep this going. Great way of giving back to the community.
Ted is one of those fine role models, setting a great example for the rest of us to follow:
Turns out, he has a particular talent for spotting home made bongs amidst the plastic rubbish. He keeps the good ones for himself and recycles the rest..
Next Gen:
Luca and Lexie with mum Leigh. Full return swim through seaweed and poo. Brilliant effort!
Polar Bear Exchange:
Dave from the Polar Bears in WA had heard of the great buoyancy and health effects provided by fecal matter. So he immediately packed his bags and dropped by for a visit:
Lyndall had great news. She managed to source a bunch of Home Bowel Screening Tests to examine the feacal matter in Cabbage Tree Bay. Just another way of giving back to the community!
We couldn't wait to get started!
Over at Shelly, things were almost back to normal..
Happy Birthday Louise!
We even had a birthday - lovely Louise celebrating her 25th with us:
After enjoying the old B&B tradition of letting her friends shower her with excrement, Louise also got to do the 'Let's Go':
Blog Turd and Blog Tarts:
Still a lot of plastic in the water..
Winter Wardrobe:
Back on dry land, everyone I spoke to commented on the wind chill. It felt positively arctic.
Wilf slipping into his thermals..
Lisa and her lovely daughter Georgie, who dropped by from Coogee:
Ex B&B swimmers, recently turned Hipsters, Tim and Linda..
Stool Samples:
As promised, Lyndall provided bowel cancer screening kits to examine the faecal matter each of us had collected during the swim.
The results were encouraging and point towards a below average rate of bowel cancer in the North Head catchment area.
If you have any questions regarding the quality of the feacal matter you've collected during your swim, feel free to approach Lyndall directly.
Bring your sample in a water-tight container. The tests are usually conducted outside Manly Wine 8:00-9:00 am weekdays and 8:00 - 11:00 am on weekends.
A few meters on, Louise was still celebrating her 25th..
Bluewater Revival:
With the colder weather, swimmers are flocking back to Bluewater in droves.
There is distinct Après-ski feeling to those winter breakfasts at Bluewater..
And finally..
Scoop of the day - Derek and his younger brother Steve:
Have a great Sunday. Stay warm. Have a hot drink. Hug someone.
See you tomorrow!
