The day kicked off for us with a pretty wild solar display winking through a long band of Altocumulus stratiformis perlucidus undulatus. Seemed to me the world would be a better place with more of these displays and from what they said last night at the BOM, we could be seeing more in the months ahead. The wedge of stratiformis was doing its best to douse the sunrise but she would not be denied.
Last night watching Game of Thrones I found myself aware of a coldness in the air around my feet which I havent felt since last winter so to steal Ned Starks catchcry "Winter is coming". Meanwhile back at the beach we found ourselves facing a half meter ENE swell on a 6 second interval, more of a wind swell really, however the occasional set was a bit bigger which I can confirm is the footing of a new south swell which will build to 2 meters plus by late Thursday if the bouys are correct. The north west wind was predicted to be 15 knots by midday but this morning a lazy 5 if lucky.
The feathering waves and water surface make it look worse than it was and with a low at 5am we had a nice walk to the point and a good solid rip to sling shot us to the point. Also a heads up as we will see the air temps descend along with the rising swell to a brittle 20 degrees tomorrow. The water though should stay up with the warmer southerly current.
The 6:30 crew seemed a little thin on the ground this morning, though I suspect a few slept in with the ranks swelling by kickoff.
The crowd gathering and Patrick heading away for 3 months soon on a European sabbatical.
After a huge delay at last the Sun popped out for the walk to the water.
In case you missed the board.
And adding some much needed colour to the day, Sparkles and Elaine sharing the joy.
Bit lumpy at the point and a definite feel of swell on the way.
Swimmers to the horizon.
And a little bit of Sandy Bottom Band action at an impromptu rehearsal.
It was dark on the water this morning and the occasional sparkle off the windows helped.
Even Shelley was dark.
There was Sun in the distance though.
And on the way home out she came.
A few close calls on the low tide point return.
And a couple of nice waves to the beach.
And to top it off our very own Kerry Jukes made it home for her 500k's.
Have a great week y'all.

look of our B&B swimwear. They have some great new designs, but would also
like input from B&B swimmers. So we have introduced a DESIGN COMPETITION
to allow our swimmers to submit their own designs to feature on the new
Budgy Smuggler swimwear.
All designs will be considered and the best design (if there is one) will be used on the swimwear.
Designs should be funky/fun with a B&B theme, and preferably with a wider appeal outside the B&B community.
Designs will be judged by the Budgy Smuggler design team (and
selected B&B management). Designs should be submitted to [email protected]
by Saturday 4th June, so let's get the creative juices flowing. Budgy
Smuggler also encourage feedback on all aspects of the swimwear, including
shape, style, fabric etc
