4 out of 5 stars today for a near perfect day.
We were met with a clean direct South swell of around a meter and half at around 10 seconds and a light Westerly barely noticeable to those not testing with a wet finger. You can just make out the lines in the shot above looking out from the top of Curly headland. On a mid tide and what felt like an erratic northerly rising Sun we were again blessed with no wave action in this little corner of the world. Even the 19.6c water had a very Summer feeling.
The hike to the club was filled with takeable views.
They got better and better as Steve Markin reflected with these shots.
A bowl of Gold , not bad for a starter.
Some of us partook in a new ceremony where we offer up a bottle of your best sherry for you 500. Thanks to John Scheaffer some warmed the cockles before the big chill. Rest assured the Sun was well over the Yardarm by this stage.
The 6.30 mob ambled in on time.
As it heated up, the 7amers headed for wet.
180 by all accounts from wiser men than me.
A magic Autumn start
A little bump rippled through but otherwise a very calm start
The early sun on the Green left its hue.
Somehow between the Green and the point I got lost and besides chasing a few Duskies that lazily shook me off I didnt take another photo till we got back when I saw someone deep inside on this Point surge.
An obligatory shot to fill out the blog as it occurred to me how amazingly lucky we are to have the opportunity to do this swim.
And on arrival a celebration for one of the two new comers who made it all the way on their first attempt following some sensational coaching from Annie.
My apologies to those expecting this a bit earlier, but one of those days when its starts out so tranquil and calm and descends into bedlam. It was fun though but only just back to a computer. Have a great week people. Make it count as it doesn't get much better than this.

*B & B Trivia Night*
As you are aware B&B is a free for all activity, but there are ongoing
costs that need to be met. To help support B&B and keep it the wonderful,
inclusive, growing phenomena that it is we will be arranging a fund-raising
Trivia Night at The Steyne Hotel on Tuesday 12th July. Please keep this
date free so you can come along. In order to make this event a success, we
are asking for:
- volunteers to assist in the organisation of the event
- donation of goods and or services that can be used as auction items or
raffle prizes
If you can assist with either of these can you please contact John Kelly (
[email protected]).
*Winter Badge*
It's nearly that time again. Winter is coming ... and so are the winter
badges. The winter swimming season runs from 1 June to 31 August, and to
qualify for your winter badge, you must:
- swim at least 20 times during this period
- swim in at least 7 different weeks
- log your swims
To qualify for the WWW badge (winter without wetsuit) you must complete all
of the above without wearing a wetsuit or any other form of bodily thermal
enhancement (don't forget to check the "without wetsuit" button on the log
in screen). Why not give it a try? Any questions - email Ian (
