Thanks God it's Friday - at least for most of our employed swimmers with daily work duties. In my office, Friday is also mufti day, hence no need to get dressed in suit and tie after the swim when I am driving from Manly to North Sydney
Richard just telling me that he likes my tee-shirt better than my suit
Swimming conditions today: my verdict - pretty ordinary, dark and overcast sky, a bit choppy at the Shelley end, not much visibility, but the water still nice and warm, and no stingers or other nasties.
The 6.30am crew on the way into the water
I spotted some interesting artwork on the back of one of our swimmers
Delighted to see three generations of the Thomson clan - the youngest getting early instructions for a future B&B career
Preparations of the 7.00am group
Ian in an important pre-swim briefing, with the mandatory coffee in one hand
Senior management (John) and senior swimmer (Justus) posing for a photo
Some newbies: Alan introducing Harry
and Richard's flatmate with his daughter
Our elder statesman (Bruce) did not miss today's swim
and some VIP swimmers - representing Australia (at the next Olympics?). They don't need to be introduced, their names prominently displayed
Then finally, into the water - not as many as usual on a Friday
Blog tarting lessons seem to be paying off finally for John Bryan
This man (no need to introduce him) is preparing for his next dentist appointment - "mouth wide open please"
and some blog tarting apprentices, making good progress
That's it for today's swim.
Some final comments & observations:
I have been noticing lately a decrease in the number of comments posted to the daily blog (unless it's Roger's blog, but he plays in a different league). Have you non-bloggers any idea of how much work it is to compose a blog, and how motivating and rewarding for us bloggers it is therefore to get your feed back and to keep us going? Don't be shy, comment on whatever you like, whether you enjoy my blog (what I hope) or whether you don't (what I would take very very personal ...)
Secondly some of you have noticed that I haven't been swimming as much lately as I used to. I am trying to tick one item off my bucket list, what some of our swimmers have already achieved (management John, Lainey, to name a few), namely to run a full 42k marathon. Challenge for me is, it will be my first one ever, only 12 months after surgery of my Achilles tendon, and at the now tender age of 60+. Anyway, this requires a bit of preparation, with a lot of early morning runs and long Sunday runs. I will tell you after I have (hopefully) completed the Canberra Marathon what's next on my list.
Have a nice day
Bernhard
