So the cyclonic storms up in Queensland have made their way down the coast and the tail end gave Manly a good talking to last night and this morning.
A lot of crap in the water, luckily someone took these out last night before someone got really hurt.
You dont need that landing on your head as you swim in.
Not the best day to swim really. Main beach was a NO GO zone, water right up to the sea wall and debris all over the place. Only the foolish would have gone out in that.
So off to halfway it was....Also a NO GO zone. You couldn't even see the stairs. The waves were ferocious and each time they banged against the concrete huge sprays of water came over onto the road almost engulfing seapoppy. Good job they sandbagged the cafe doorway.
Third time lucky....Off everyone trotted to the relative calm of Shelly Beach. Most got oin for a dip, some went for a bower and back some did a very brave half way and back. Conditions were rough. Water was frothy and brown in patches. Apparently its good for the mind body & soul to swim in such conditions!
On the walk back to the club i noticed bluebottles being blown over the wall onto dry land. The halfway pool was fully covered.
So in short, a rather different for a Sunday swim.
BUT NEVER FEAR...TONY ABBOTS HERE..
This was filmed after todays swim in the Guys change room:
