Swim4autism Sunday 26th March at the ABC pool in the Sydney Domain 7am to 12.
Swimming a few laps is nothing compared to the challenge of life with autism.
The event began 8 years ago with Kevin Stevens, a B&B swimmer who now lives in Singapore, swimming solo for 5 hours. In recent years as many as 60 swimmers take part in relay teams or as individuals who swim their own challenge. The relay teams take part in 2 hour or 5 hour relays. The Carlos Cup, named after Kevin's autistic son, is awarded to the person who swims the furthest as well as the individual and teams who raise the most funds. Now in its 9th year the swim has raised over $370,000.
The 5 hour event starts at 7am this Sunday at the Andrew Boy Charlton pool in the Domain. More details can be found or donations can be made at www.swim4autism.com
