39 intrepid B&B’ers were not deterred by a little autumnal precipitation!
You’re going to get wet anyhow so you might as well come on down and bask in the warmth of your fellow silly swimmers.
Jane was very happy to find us waiting for her.
Delightful colour scheme of pink and grey today as we immersed ourselves in the cooling surf. Down to 20.9 degrees today - has summer really left us?
The swim to Shelly was choppy, fun and fast. Ian took the sweep position to make sure we all arrived safely.
With such an intimate group it was easy to compare stories of the swim over. A few people even saw a fish!!! Given that the visability is very low - sighting any marine critters was a challenge.
So the weather might be a bit glum, but it was - as ever - a great swim.
Special note about the absolutely, last and final chance for a badge swim
2nd March is the absolutely last chance to pick up a 6km or a 10km summer badge! The loose collection of cadres known as The Management has met to consider several requests for an extension of the summer badge season. Unfortunately, due to the need to organise the badge ceremony before Easter/school holidays, we are only able to extend the season to tomorrow (2nd March) for the last 6k/10k swim. Please meet in the usual spot at the Surf Club. A decision on the format of the swim will be made in the morning once the conditions have been assessed.
For the diary . . .
Also, Tuesday 5th March is the next Bluewater dinner and then every 1st Tuesday of the month. Great value at just $20 for two courses and $5 drinks. To register your attendance follow the link Bluewater Monthly Dinner
One of our fellow B&B’ers, Sebastian Terry is running an event in aid of Camp Quality next month. It’s the "100 Things" (Check out www.100things.com.au) Documentary Premiere on 8th March at The Steyne Hotel. Ticket price includes 4 x free drinks, free food, free raffle entry and global premiere of documentary which will be on the Discovery channel. Cost: $50 with 100% of money going to camp Quality! Staying safe
NEW water safety tips!!! Michael’s tips remain valid but this updated guide is courtesy of champion Ironman Craig 'Riddo' Riddington. He has put this RIP/ Surf swim education document together for the B&B and it’s a good read. To read and even download click here.
Keep on singing!
